Unpacking Recent Global Advances in Climate, Heat and Health for Cross-Regional Learning
Feb 3, 2026
Host:
GHHIN, Southeast Asia Hub
Location:
National University of Singapore & Online
Organised by the Global Heat Health Information Network (GHHIN) Southeast Asia Hub, based at the Heat Resilience & Performance Centre, NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, this hybrid public seminar provides a comprehensive overview of the global climate-health nexus, with a strategic focus on the latest developments on the global stage and within low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Participants will gain a dual-perspective framework: traversing macro-scale international policy and ground-level community implementation. The seminar is designed to equip audiences with actionable knowledge on heat management and climate resilience through the lens of two distinguished global leaders:
Operationalising Heat Solutions: Global to Local
Ms. Juli Trtanj
Ms. Trtanj will examine the multidimensional and societal impacts of rising temperatures and intensifying heatwaves, highlighting recent global-to-local strategies, partnerships, coalitions and policies for risk reduction and adaptation. The session will also underscore the critical role of research in informing effective heat resilience across communities and sectors.
Climate Change and Health Effects in LMICs: Challenges and Opportunities
Prof. Zulfiqar A. Bhutta
Prof. Bhutta will discuss climate change’s multi-dimensional health impacts and underlying mechanisms, with a special focus on vulnerable women and children, particularly during pregnancy and early infancy. He will also share promising low-cost strategies for resilience and adaptation in community settings, alongside key priority research areas in LMICs.
The seminar will be conducted in a hybrid format with the option of attending in-person or virtually. Please indicate your choice through this form. Registration closes on 29 January 2026.
