Executive Director

As Tracking California’s Executive Director, Shubhayu is committed to amplifying the implementation of community-engaged climate resilience programs and making environmental health data accessible and actionable through partnerships. Shubhayu brings 15 years of experience addressing climate-related health risks, especially in communities vulnerable to environmental hazards. He has worked at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, including roles at the CDC’s Climate and Health Program and at the Office of Climate Change and Health Equity.


Shubhayu has authored multiple chapters on public health impacts for the last three United States National Climate Assessments. Before joining CDC, he worked on understanding human development and sustainable interaction with the environment. For his Ph.D. in Environmental Economics, he explored how land use change linked to deforestation and iron ore mining impacted wellbeing of communities in India and Brazil. This work was supported through grants from the National Science Foundation and the World Bank.
